Fidelitas 2006 Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

A big congratulations too Fidelitas, whose 2006 Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon was picked as Wine & Spirits' Critics Choice for November 2009.

So I felt it only fitting to open up my bottle in celebration this weekend. This cab is sourced from 9 different vineyards in the Columbia Valley with 31% coming from Champoux vineyards. It is aged 22 months in 50% new French and American oak and registers in a 14.6% alcohol.

We popped and poured this with a couple of our friends. On the nose - floral, wet cement, slight earthiness, dark berries and smoke. Taste notes - tart cherries, raspberry, earth. Slight acid, but very smooth. It may have smoothed out more after an hour or two, but frankly it didn't last that long between the 4 of us. I good 10-15 second finish on this wine. The concensus of the group was that this was a well deserve honor for a wonderful wine.

Fidelitas has embraced the social media scene as well. Both winemaker @charliehoppes as well as the wineclub concierge @FidelitasJess are on Twitter. Give them a follow!
